Revlon Whipped Colour Stay Foundation Review Monday, Sep 24 2012

Hello!
Alas Revlon has done it again, they’ve created a new Colour stay foundation which has created quiet the buzz in the beauty industry. Everyone seems to be picking it up lately and also a lot of the fans of the liquid colour stay foundation have picked this one up and have compared it. Now I don’t have the liquid colour stay foundation, but I’ve heard so many good things about it, that I actually might pick it up soon and give it a try. The first looks at this foundation was.. uhh ohh they copied the maybelline mouse foundation.. wrong! I hadn’t previously owned and revlon foundations until now, I was un sure of my shade, in drugstores I found it very hard to pick a colour. There is only one tester, which is one shade.. which makes it even more difficult to pick one shade and try and get it right. I did some research first.. I looked up people that had MAC cosmetics foundations and I had seem if they had the revlon foundation and what colour in the revlon they were if they were an NW20 in MAC , which is what I am. That made it easier.. trust me.. it did take about a week to come up with this theory and to try it and see if I could come up with a shade closet to my skin colour.. and the final result.. I did!!! I purchased this foundation in the colour 220 nude. Which seems to suit people who are an NW20 in MAC Foundations. Lets start by describing the formula of this foundation.. to me it is a whipped mousse…. if that makes any sense. It is not liquid.. not creme ( close to though) so more so like a whipped formula, if I tip the jar with the lid off upside down.. it is definitely not going anywhere it is that thick.

Colour: 220 Nude

It isn’t full of air either, the packaging is less than desirable.. because it is a heavy glass jar.. and I think if you dropped this on a hard floor.. it would break. It comes with a twist on and off lid and a white cap to keep the product inside the jar, it seems unsanitary to keep dipping a makeup brush in the product.. which I guess it is, but you can also scoop some out onto your hand each time you apply this, that way your not dipping a dirty brush in it constantly. There are a few ways to apply this foundation that seems to work for this product.. which is a way that I found works best for me and it is using a stiff stippling brush such as the real techniques stippling brush and or the sigma brushes that are very dense and are able to buff in this product very well.

220 Nude

The product claims to last for 24 hours.. I don’t know anyone that would wear makeup for 24 hours while awake.. not me! I seem to get about 8+ hours out of it, with a powder and a setting spray, such as Urban decay all nighter spray!  It seems to work for oily and or dry skin.. which makes it good and appealing to all skin types.  The glass jar doesn’t do the colours justice.. you have to take off the lid and remove the white cap to actually look at the colours available.  I picked this foundation up for $17.99 Canadian… that is expensive compared to other drugstore foundations.. but this one does work and is definitely a medium to full coverage foundation worth trying if you don’t want to spend the money on a high end foundation.  Overall I will be re purchasing this foundation in the future , continuing to love the Revlon colour stay products.

Clinique 3 step skincare system Monday, Aug 20 2012

The Clinique 3 step skincare system was developed by Dermatologist, and it is made for easy use. As it gives you the 3 steps to follow, it has a Cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. For me I’ve been wanting to find a skincare routine that works for me, but didn’t really know where to start and which products I needed to use and in which order.  I was flipping through a cosmopolitan magazine and saw an ad for the Clinique 3 step skincare system, I looked it up and decided it was a good start as it gives you all 3 steps and how to use them. Also I went in the Clinique website and did the skin diagnosis test and it gave me options for my routine, which was really good.
Step 1) Using the clinique mild facial soap to cleanse skin and prepare it for the toner, the cleanser is a liquid soap that removes makeup, dirt, and sweat. Anything that has gotten into pores and will cause breakouts. How to use: (After makeup has been taken off with a makeup wipe) Wet face with water, pour a small amount of the cleanser into the palm of hand and rub together, then Rub all over the face avoiding the eye area, make sure to get right up to the hairline and also under the jawline as well, then rinse off with water. Pictures above

Step 2) The Clarifying lotion will help clear away pollution and dull flakes for smooth and healthy looking skin. It also reduces pores, and the skin can accept moisture better. The toner will help skin look healthier and younger, the formula is non-drying and comfortable.  How to use: Take a cotton pad or cotton ball.. or even your fingers and rub it all over your face after you have used the cleanser, will feel tingly.. but that is normal. Avoid the eye area and let it soak in, will dry fast on the skin. Picture below

3) Hydrating the skin is the last step in this routine to help the skin look fresh and healthy and stay looking young. It works to soften, smooth, improve the condition and texture of your skin. The lotion formula is for drier skins; oil-free Gel is perfect for oilier skins. I have heard the some people prefer the gel as it is less thicker than the lotion. picture below
This 3 step system is the easiest to use, it is straight forward and fairly priced. It is for all skin types and going on the Clinique website will help you pick out your routine for your skin type after you complete the skin diagnosis.

Evening Skin Care Routine Wednesday, Jul 25 2012

In the evening before I go to bed I always take my makeup off, It is so important to take all makeup off at night to allow your skin to breathe at night and rejuvenate. Leaving makeup on at night can cause breakouts, dryness, irritation..etc. Everyone’s skincare routine will be different and suited to their specific needs and how their skin reacts to different products, this is my routine:

-Take a makeup wipe (Garnier vitamin enriched cleansing cloth) works well and wipe away eye and face makeup, as much as I can get off

– Put Neutrogena oil free eye makeup remover on to a Q-tip and take off any mascara that didn’t come off, sometimes it is stubborn and wont come off using the makeup wipe.

-Take clean and clear foaming makeup remover cleanser, first wet your face with water and then take 1-2 pumps and rub between hands and apply to face, rub in circular motions to remove face makeup, and let sit for 1-3 minutes and then remove by splashing water in face, pat dry

-Then I take Mac Cosmetics Studio moisture cream, and apply that all over my face and let it set it before I go to bed

This is my evening routine, it may not work for everyone, try different products and see what works for you, On days i don’t wear makeup i will still apply my moisturizer to my face as I have dry skin. I’m currently looking into Clean and Clear’s products that are pore refining products to try, as I have enlarged pores around my nose.. ugh
